Today is a very special day in the SherwinM Studios. We are officially celebrating a major milestone: 2,000 subscribers!
I always say “we” because this isn’t just my channel—you all are as much a part of this as I am. Whether you’ve been here since my first Model 3 order video or you just joined for the Cybertruck deep dives, I am incredibly grateful for your support, your comments, and your shared passion for EV tech.
Hitting this mark on March 9th was particularly meaningful—it’s mine and Abby’s wedding anniversary, and it’s the same day we headed to Laguna Beach to check out the new Rivian California Dune R1S. In honor of this milestone, I wanted to take a look back at how this channel started and where we’re headed next.

From Google Search to YouTube Creator
This channel actually started out of frustration. Back in 2006, I used YouTube mainly for research. But as I started buying tech and eventually my first Tesla (a 2019 Model 3), I noticed a gap. Many reviews were influenced by sponsorships or didn’t show the “weird” ways regular people actually use products.
I decided to start recording my honest, uninfluenced experiences.
- The Goal: To share the real process of EV ownership—from the “hit a button and get a $60,000 loan” reality of ordering a Tesla to the genuine headaches of the service center.
- The Niche: I use products in uncommon ways, and I wanted to help people who might share those same use cases.
The Community and Collaborations
One of the best parts of this journey has been meeting other creators and owners in the EV space.
- KobraToldYa: We met by chance when his Cybertruck rolled into my Rivian delivery video! He eventually let me do my first Cybertruck demo drive, which is the reason a Cybertruck replaced our Model X.
- Tesla Joy & Everyday Chris: Meeting creators I used to watch (like Joy, who gave me the courage to go full electric) has been incredibly humbling.
- Referrals: I’m honored that so many of you have used my referral codes for your own Rivians and Teslas. It’s the ultimate sign of trust, and I appreciate every one of you.
New Feature: YouTube Memberships
I’ve had many of you ask how to support the channel beyond just watching and liking. After some thought, I’m officially launching YouTube Memberships with three tiers.
The Philosophy: I will never put my main content behind a paywall. The main reviews, road trips, and technical deep dives will always be free for everyone. The Perks: Memberships are for those who want a bit more “SherwinM” in their feed:
- Early Access: See the main videos as soon as they’re uploaded.
- Behind the Scenes: Unedited time-lapses, gear tests, and quick updates that don’t fit the main “SEO-friendly” video format.
- Informal Updates: Quick “hit record” videos where I vent about a service issue or share a new discovery without the full production process.
What’s Next?
We’re just getting started. I have a backlog of exciting content coming your way:
- The Rivian R1S “California Dune” first look.
- More Cyber Odyssey off-road adventures.
- Technical comparisons between the Cybertruck and the R1T.
- Long-term reliability updates for the whole fleet.
Thank you again for 2,000 subscribers. It’s a milestone that reminds me why I love sharing this journey with all of you. Here’s to the next 2,000!
