Install & Review: Hansshow Illuminated Carbon Fiber Door Sills for Tesla Model Y

Hansshow Illuminated Door Sills for Model Y
Upgrade your Tesla Model Y with Handshow's illuminated door sills. Easy install, sleek carbon fiber finish, and magnetic activation. Great for night-time style and visibility.

I’m excited to share a new upgrade for the Tesla Model YHansshow’s illuminated carbon fiber door sills. I installed the Tesla Model Y illuminated door sills and wanted to walk you through the process, share tips, and give you my honest thoughts on the product.

What’s in the Box?

Hansshow sent over a complete set for all four doors. The kit includes:

  • 4 door sill plates (2 for the front, 2 for the rear)
  • Pre-installed batteries (CR2430 for front, CR2032 for rear)
  • Extra batteries and magnets
  • Adhesive strips
  • Foam pads for alignment

I went with the carbon fiber style, but they offer other finishes too. The Tesla Model Y illuminated door sills are available in different styles to match your taste.

Installation Process

🧼 Step 1: Clean the Surface

Before applying the sill plates, clean your existing door sill area with a microfiber towel. A clean surface ensures better adhesion.

📏 Step 2: Align the Sills

Front sills are longer than the rear, so it’s easy to tell them apart. The front plates are labeled FL and FR; rear ones are RL and RR. Even though they’re mostly symmetrical, stick to the labels for optimal fit.

🔋 Step 3: Battery Setup

They come pre-installed, but for reference:

  • Front door sills use CR2430 batteries.
  • Rear door sills use CR2032 batteries.

You’ll also notice padding underneath to prevent scratching and improve fit.

Magnetic Activation

These door sills light up using a magnetic trigger system. You’ll need to place a small magnet on your door that lines up with the activation spot on the sill. When the door opens, it moves the magnet away, triggering the light to turn on.

⚠️ Tip: Let the lights shut off first (30–60 seconds), then move the magnet around to find the activation sweet spot before sticking it in place.

Rear Door Sill Tips

The rear installation of the Tesla Model Y illuminated door sills is slightly trickier since there’s no existing door sill. I eyeballed the placement by aligning the edge along the interior panel seam. One of the rear doors needed a foam pad extender to bring the magnet close enough for reliable activation—so don’t toss those packing pads!

Final Thoughts

These illuminated door sills are a simple but stylish upgrade for any Model Y. I love the subtle carbon fiber texture and the night-time glow when I open the doors at a supercharger. If you’re looking to customize your Tesla’s interior, the Tesla Model Y illuminated door sills are an easy and functional mod.
