Inside the Tesla Diner: Review & Experience

Tesla Diner

I’m coming to you from the highly anticipated Tesla Diner in Santa Monica / Hollywood. I finally made it! I was actually supposed to be here earlier for an Unplugged Performance event, but I completely misread the flyer (9 to 11 AM, not 10 to 12!), so I arrived just as things were winding down.

Even though I missed the main event, being here is an experience in itself. This place is more than just a charging station; it’s a peek into the lifestyle Tesla is building for the future of transportation and entertainment.

The Charging Hub: V3.5 Superchargers

The Hollywood Diner features the newest 325 kW (V3.5) Superchargers. I pulled in with about 58% state of charge and hit my limit incredibly fast. One thing I was curious about was the logistics: where do you go once you’re done charging? Tesla has a dedicated “post-charging” area where you can move your vehicle so you can finish your meal or watch a movie on the big screens without blocking a stall. It’s a smart design choice for a location that is meant to be a destination.

Star of the Show: The Colossus Cybertruck

One of the main reasons I wanted to stop by today was to see my buddy Joe’s new build. Joe drove all the way down from Northern California in his Colossus-themed Cybertruck.

  • The Finish: It has a high-polish, mirror-like finish that perfectly captures the “Colossus” look from the X-Men.
  • The Stance: The wheel and tire setup on this thing features a crazy offset that gives it an incredibly aggressive profile. Seeing it in person at the diner, surrounded by other Teslas, really makes you realize how much potential there is for customization with the stainless steel body.

Meeting Optimus: The Model S & X “Replacement”

As I walked through the diner, I ran into a very familiar face—or rather, a familiar visor. Optimus was on display. As I mentioned in my recent video about the discontinuation of the Model S and Model X, Elon has made it clear that production resources are shifting toward robotics. Standing next to Optimus, it’s hard not to feel like this guy is the reason we’re losing our favorite flagship sedans. I’ll let you decide who to blame, but the tech is undeniably impressive!

Dining Experience: Chicken and Waffles

You can’t come to a diner and not eat. I headed up to the second-floor balcony, which offers a great view of the charging lot and the massive drive-in movie screens.

  • The Food: I tried the Chicken and Waffles. Honestly? It was actually pretty good. It hit the spot after a long drive.
  • The Damage: I also picked up a souvenir cup. Between the meal and the cup, I spent about $30 something bucks. A bit pricey for a diner, but you’re paying for the “Tesla Hollywood” experience.
  • Amenities: They even have a popcorn station and a bar on the second floor. It’s the ultimate “charge and chill” spot.

Spotted at the Diner: Juniper Performance & More

The lot was filled with some interesting hardware, including:

  • Model Y Juniper Performance: I saw a couple of these, including Dennis’s black build. The refreshed look is really starting to dominate the SoCal streets.
  • Pre-Ultra Red Model X: A beautiful classic red Model X that reminded me of the “old” flagship days.

The Tesla Hollywood Diner is a glimpse into a future where charging your car isn’t a chore, but a social event. If you’re in the LA area, it’s definitely worth the stop—just make sure you read your event flyers correctly so you don’t miss the party!
