Today we’re installing running boards on a buddy’s Cybertruck. My friend Bong just wrapped his beast in a beautiful satin white finish, painted his own brake calipers, and now we’re adding the finishing touches with some heavy-duty hardware from Hansshow.

In this post, we’re doing a step-by-step installation of the Hansshow Running Boards and their full-cabin Napa Leather Seat Covers. If you’re looking to improve your truck’s accessibility and protect that “Tactical Gray” interior, this is the deep dive you’ve been waiting for.

Sleek Accessibility: Hansshow Running Boards Installation

I’ve installed running boards on my own Cybertruck and my Rivian, but this Hansshow design is unique. It features a cool Cybertruck silhouette logo and a non-slip textured surface for maximum grip.

Installing brackets under the Cybertruck

Technical Installation Breakdown:

  1. Preparation: Set the truck to its Highest Ride Height and enable Jack Mode.
  2. Mounting the Brackets: Unlike other brands, Hansshow uses four brackets per side, each clearly labeled (L1, L2, etc.). The brackets use a “slide-and-turn” mounting system similar to the Rivian R1T.
  3. No Obstructions: A critical technical win—these brackets do not block the factory lift points. You can still safely jack up the truck for tire service or alignments without removing the running boards.
  4. Adjustability: The boards are highly adjustable, allowing you to choose how far they “poke out” from the side of the truck.

Interior Protection: Hansshow Napa Leather Seat Covers

Tesla made an interesting choice with the Cybertruck—offering white interiors but only black seats. If you’re like us and prefer a lighter, more premium look, Hansshow’s Napa leather covers are a game-changer.

The Kit Details:

  • Material: Breathable, waterproof Napa leather.
  • Compatibility: Fully compatible with heated and ventilated seats thanks to a perforated design.
  • Safety First: The covers include specific “Airbag Side” tags and designated tear-away sections to ensure the side-impact airbags deploy correctly in an emergency.
  • Complete Set: It’s a 10-piece kit covering all seats, the center console, armrests, and even the rear cup holder area.

The Install Process:

The front seats are the most complex part of the job. You have to loosen the factory straps under the seat to feed the new cover’s anchors through. Hansshow provides a specific tucking tool to ensure the edges disappear into the seat plastics for a factory-original look.

Pro Tip: Leave the covers out in the sun for 24 hours before installing. This softens the leather, removes any “new product” smell, and helps the wrinkles smooth out once they’re stretched over the cushions.

Real-World Performance: The “Bacon Strip” Test

After living with the seat covers for a few days, I noticed a slight change in the ventilated seat performance. Because you’re adding an extra layer of leather, you have to crank the settings up.

  • Standard: 1-2 “Bacon Strips” (Tesla’s icon for heat/cool).
  • With Covers: 2-3 “Bacon Strips” to feel the same level of cooling.

The material is definitely breathable, but the extra insulation means the fans have to work a bit harder to push air through. However, the tradeoff for protecting the interior from my kids’ messy snacks is 100% worth it.

Final Verdict

The Hansshow running boards are some of the easiest to install on the market, and the design is top-notch. As for the seat covers, they offer the “white seat” look that Tesla forgot to provide, combined with the protection every daily-driver truck needs.
