I’m revealing the most ambitious aesthetic project for the Cybertruck Studios yet. Abby finally found the perfect color combination she’s been looking for, and we handed the keys over to Austin at Nikola Customs and the team at AIM Wrap to make it a reality.
Today is all about artistic freedom. We gave Austin a loose concept and let him run with it. The result? A stunning, one-of-a-kind Takashi Murakami-inspired two-tone wrap that completely transforms the stainless steel beast.
The Technical Build: PPF meets Vinyl
This isn’t your standard color-change wrap. We went with a hybrid approach to ensure the truck is as protected as it is stylish.
- The Foundation (Bottom Half): We used a color-shifting PPF (Paint Protection Film) from Flexi Shield in a color called Cherry Blossom. In most lighting, it looks like a clean white, but as you move around the truck, it shifts into shades of pink, aquamarine, and turquoise.
- The Accent (Upper Half): The upper section is from Tinybot Vinyl, Gloss Passion Pink.
- The Protection Factor: The entire truck is covered in PPF first, and the pink vinyl is laid over the top. This means the underlying stainless steel is fully protected from rock chips and road debris.

Designing the Murakami Aesthetic
The inspiration for the build comes from the iconic Japanese contemporary artist Takashi Murakami. Abby has always loved the “embossed” look on custom builds, so we integrated his signature smiling flowers into the design.
- Embossed Details: Austin used individual vinyl circles and shapes underneath the main wrap to create a raised, 3D effect. You can actually feel the texture of the Murakami flowers on the panels.
- Custom Overlays: We added a large Murakami flower on the hood and another on the tonneau cover. Austin even added a pink “Cybertruck” logo for that final custom touch.

Engineering the Tonneau Cover Wrap
One of the biggest technical challenges with wrapping a Cybertruck is the tonneau cover. Because the cover consists of individual slats that roll and unroll, a standard sticker would quickly peel or jam the mechanism. Austin meticulously cut the vinyl in between every single slat. I tested the rolling mechanism back at home, and it’s flawless—no snagging, and the design remains perfectly aligned when the vault is closed.

Valentine’s Day Delivery & Easter Eggs
We picked up the truck on Valentine’s Day, which was perfect given the pink theme. I even broke out my retired sneakerhead gear and rocked my Pink Foamposites (the breast cancer awareness colorway) to match the rig.

Austin also left a hidden “Easter egg” in the truck bed: a decal of Psalm 121:8, a nice personal touch that Abby didn’t even notice until we got home.

Nighttime Impressions & Fogging Issues
During our Valentine’s dinner, I got some footage of the wrap under artificial light. The “Cherry Blossom” PPF really sparkles at night. I also checked on a known Cybertruck technical issue: the front camera housing fogging up. Tesla recently “cleaned” mine under warranty while replacing the can rails. It still fogs slightly at the very bottom, but it’s a massive improvement over the entire housing being obscured like it was before.
